The Breast Health Exercises application focuses on a series of 10-20 minute gentle exercises that have been developed to promote increased circulation in the breast tissues with minimal effort. They can be performed anywhere and with other exercise programs, some even while sitting at your desk or walking. Increased circulation in breast tissue is thought to aid in the prevention of breast cancer. The App includes instructional photos that guide the viewer through step-by-step exercise-stretches that provide stress release, circulation and balance through the upper-mid body, breasts and surrounding musculature.
According to American Cancer Society statistics, 192,370 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.
Dr. Timothy Birdsall, Vice President of Integrative Medicine for Cancer Treatment Centers of America (a nationwide set of clinics that practice holistic and integrative medicine), states that one of the best ways to limit the risk of breast cancer is to change the physical environment that is conducive for cancer growth. Birdsall states in an interview with Natural Solutions magazine that a diet high in antioxidants, fiber, fruits and vegetables lowered the risk of breast cancer. He states that additional elements combined with this strategy may contribute to the lowered risk as well. Additionally, Anne McTiernan, MD, PhD, Director of the Prevention Center at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (located in Seattle, Washington and designated by the National Cancer Institute as one of the nation’s comprehensive cancer centers) concurs that a prevention strategy, which includes a diet rich in antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and exercise are instrumental in controlling estrogen and reducing the risk of breast cancer. The American Cancer Society also states that regular exercise plus a healthy diet can help to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer.
